I was so sorry to read of Jim's death. I saw it in the Catholic Sun- so not in time to attend the services. He was a very good man and a very faithful man. Elaine and Family,
What a gift God sent us in Deacon Jim, his inspiring words, his caring heart and infectious smile will be missed. Truer words could not have been said of Jim, "to know him was to love him". It was an honor and pleasure to work with Jim and the Sacred Heart youth group, I will cherish the memories and relationships made under his guidance with the youth of Sacred Heart. He was such a good example and positive influence on the kids.
My sympathy and love to you all. As we say goodbye to our Deacon, teacher and friend, I thank you Elaine for sharing Jim with us for 30 years.

To the Morse family. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. You have been a part of our "camping family" for some time now and Jim has truly touched all of our hearts. We feel honored to have known such a kind, giving man who was always willing to help others. Whether it was holding someone's hand who was mourning, taking the time to talk to an elderly person who has Alzheimer’s just because he made her feel safe, or saying grace at our oh too many dinners he never waivered from his true caring self. Such a loving, wonderful family as yours is a reflection of him and one you should be very proud of. He will be truly missed. I was so sorry to learn of Deacon Jim's passing. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. My father, Edward Palkowski, just loved Deacon Jim. On the way home from Mass, Dad would always make some comment like, "They sure are lucky to have him at the Basilica." or "Deacon Jim is a very good man!" He will be missed, but he is a very important part of the history of The Basilica of the Sacred Heart. His words inspired many people! God Bless!

To Jim's family,
My sincerest condolences on your tragic loss. I only knew him for a month. We shared morning coffee at the campground after I moved in June 1st. In that short time I learned a lot about you all and Sacred Heart. He was so proud of all of you. He was able to share many great stories of his family and Sacred Heart with me as I too shared some of my family history with him. We laughed a lot.
