Please share a memory of Duane to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Duane “Bucky” Walters, 92 of Camillus passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4th at the Veteran’s Home in Oxford, New York. Duane was born in Bascom, Ohio on February 5, 1925. He served in the United States Navy in the second World War as a radioman on a patrol craft. He met the love of his life of 68 years, Mary Jane, while working at Sterling Grinding Wheel Company. Duane was self-employed for several years, before becoming a partner at Ral-Rich Tool Supply, where he retired in 1986. After retirement, he and Mary Jane spent well deserved time at their cottage in Canada. They traveled the United States and became active members in the Patrol Craft Sailors’ Association running the Ship’s Store for over 20 years and making great new friends. Duane loved selling Christmas trees for the Camillus Optimists’. He loved fishing at the cottage and going on fishing trips with his children, grandchildren and his fishing club comrades. Bowling with his buddies was top on his list. The neighborhood dogs loved Duane and his daily handouts of “doggie treats”. During his amazing life, Duane made many wonderful friends. His life was happy and full. Dad, you will be missed by all your family and friends. We know you join your loved ones and friends that have passed before you and will bowl that perfect 300 game and catch the “big one that got away”. Duane is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, sons Gregg (Sandy), Jim (Brenda) and daughter Sue Ellen (Mike Brousseau); his grandchildren Michael, Daniel (Macala), Erin (Asa Kiser), Emily (Jeremiah Lalli), Derek Brousseau and Jessica Brousseau (Luke McCormick); great-grandchildren Bailey, Elliana, Andrew, Abigail, Emma Kate and Ava. He is also survived by his brother Paul Richard of Tiffin, Ohio, many nieces, nephews and friends. Duane is predeceased by his mother and father, Evelyn Mary and Orval Walters and an infant brother John. Many thanks to the care staff at the Veteran’s Home in Oxford, New York, for their kind and compassionate care.
