Obituary of Dorothy Apolonia Witkowski

June 23, 2012 Dorothy “Dottie” Witkowski of Syracuse passed away at Loretto on Saturday after a long painful illness. She was the daughter of Pauline and Stephen Witkowski. Dottie was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Central High School and Brockport Teachers College in Rochester, NY. Dorothy worked in many businesses but being a teacher was the profession she loved the most. She began teaching at St. James Catholic School in the “Valley” and finished at Bishop Ludden as a Math and Science Teacher until she retired. Her devotion in life was “ the Lay Carmelites of St. Theresa where she was the director and leader of the group for 7 years. She was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Witkowski and parents, Stephen and Pauline Witkowski. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Christine Witkowski; many cousins, her special ones, Richard and Susan Hanas. Dorothy had a plethora of lifetime friends, which was one of her greatest quest, among them are; Gail Roach, Carol Ashe, Nicki Scibilia, Carmela Dateno, Dolores Babylon, Della DeTore, Helen McDermott, Joyce Bieling, Eileen Balsley, Ann Smith, Patricia LaBrecque and Eleonore Oates. In lieu of Flowers: please send a donation to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America New York , New York 10017 and Loretto Pastoral Care c/o Sister Moore 700 East Brighton Avenue Syracuse, NY 13205. Funeral Services will be held Friday 1:30 PM in the Loretto Chapel.
