Diana Lilien McDonough Obituary
December 20, 2011 Diana Lilien McDonough, 56, of Syracuse, passed away in peace Tuesday in the company of her family. A 1973 graduate of Nottingham High School, Diana earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Medicine and Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Having dedicated much of her adult life to raising her four children, Diana worked in recent years at Elsbeth Rose in Armory Square and at Chuck Hafner’s Garden Center in North Syracuse. Diana was predeceased in January 2011 by her mother, Dr. Isobel J. Chessar, and in April 2007 by her father, Dr. Otto M. Lilien. She is survived by her four children, Paul McDonough, Laura (Daniel) Filip, Michael McDonough and Andrew McDonough, all of Syracuse; as well as her six siblings, Michael Lilien, Adam (Dusty) Lilien, Laura (Dick) Greenhalgh, Rachel (Jimmy) Breslin and Christina (Greg) Ferlenda, all of Syracuse, and Jason (Roberta) Lilien of Salt Lake City, Utah. She also leaves behind 15 beloved nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, NY. Immediately following, all are invited to join the family in celebration of Diana’s life in the members’ lounge at Drumlins Country Club in DeWitt.
