Obituary of Duane Arlyn Sutton

May 25, 2011 Duane Arlyn Sutton was born on March 27, 1937 in Nampa, Idaho and passed away on May 25, 2011 in Rochester Hills, Michigan while surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan on March 10, 1998. Duane graduated from the College of Idaho and went on to get his Master's Degree in music. He resided in Syracuse, NY with his family from 1967 until his retirement from the Diocese of Syracuse in July of 2010. Duane worked as the director of music for the Diocese of Syracuse and was the organist for Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for over 42 years. Duane loved to lead the choir, sing, and minister to people through his gift of music. He was a devoted husband to his wife Joan of 33 years, who he lovingly cared for during her twenty years of suffering from symptoms related to Multiple Sclerosis. He is survived by his four children; Michael D. Sutton of Virginia, Michelle T.(Sutton) Hutchinson of Arizona, Anna Marie B. (Sutton) Bajus of North Carolina, Suzette M. Sutton- Frazee of Michigan; grandchildren Alexandria and Rachel Sutton, Nathaniel Hutchinson and Josiah Hutchinson, Aaron Wisniewski, Tatiana Wisniewski and Peter Bajus, Katharin and David Sutton-Frazee, and his great-grandson Maddix Wisniewski. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 2nd at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 259 East Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY from 2 to 4 PM and then again at 7 to 9 PM.
