January 3, 2016 William (Billy) G. Leonard Jr. 82, of Syracuse, NY and Pinellas Park, FL, went to the great Boatyard In The Sky on January 3, 2016, to be with his Lord and Savior, his parents, brother Richard and little sister Connie. Billy was born on May 15, 1933, Mother's Day, to William (Billy) Sr. and Constance (Lewandowski). Billy graduated St. John the Evangelist, Syracuse. He helped at the family restaurant, Leonard's Belvedere, then worked with the Department of Agriculture as a Meat and Food Inspector for over 40 years. Billy was an avid boater and with his wife cruised the canals of New York and Canada with The Polish Taurean. Docking the Polish Taurean at Onondaga Lake Marina for 39 years, known as "The Mayor" of the marina. Billy was an self made handyman. He always had a project in the works whether it was for his family or a friend. He could help repair your car, boat, home or anything in between. He built both his family homes. If you needed a volunteer to make 1 sandwich or 150, Billy was your man. If you needed any help all you had to do was call. Billy did not know how to say "no" to someone in need of help. He is survived by his cherished wife, Carolyn(Sobotka), his daughter Deborah Leonard-Sandore of Baldwinsville, his sons William (Jean) of MS and Eric (Laura) of CO, grandchildren Audrey and Jennifer Sandore, Jason, Jessica, Caroline, Weston(Finn) and William Leonard. Billy's warm smile along with his hospitality will be missed by many. There was always cheese, pepperoni, onions, crackers and a beverage available when Billy was around A Celebration of Billy's life will take place on June 5th at noon at the Liverpool Elks Lodge where Billy was a member. Billy was proud of his Polish Heritage, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or the Polish Home Kitchen Fund(915 Park Ave).
