September 15,2009 Sr. Patricia Ann Galanaugh, O.P. passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 15, 2009. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to Catherine and Joseph Galanaugh, both deceased. Prior to her entering the Dominican Monastery Sr. Patricia Ann was employed by Curtis Publishing in Philadelphia, PA. She entered the Dominican Monastery on September 8, 1969 and professed Final Vows May 21, 1978, Sister was devoted to the Rosary Hour of Guard every day of her life. She had a great love for “Sweet Jesus”, as she fondly called him and Mary the Mother of God. She performed her Extern duties with great care making sure all the Sisters needs were met even if it entailed a nightly trip to the ER. She also had the gift of keeping up the maintenance of the Monastery and also was a superb cook. Sister Patricia Ann was a great support and comfort to the many people she knew through her travels in Syracuse. She was a pillar of strength with a compassionate and loving heart. Sister Patricia Ann is survived by her sister, Helen (Galanaugh) Checchio and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday 10 AM to 8PM in the Dominican Monastery Chapel 802 Court Street Syracuse 13208. Funeral Services: Mass of the Resurrection will be offered in the Monastery Chapel on Saturday 11 AM by, her nephew, Monsignor James Checchio, Rector of the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers please make donations toward the Dominican Monastery 802 Court St Syracuse 13208
