Mr. Hogue was a good man who made a difference in the lives of the students he served. In a world where discipline in our schools is sorely lacking, we at JDHS were fortunate to have someone like Mr. Hogue trying to make a difference. May God bless him and receive him with open arms and may his memory comfort both his family and those whose lives he touched. Amen.

Mr. Hogue had to deal with alot of problems, including me. In spite of the difficulties I presented him with...forty years later he still took the time to check in with me on facebook and send his regards. I consider that to be a "stand up" kind of man.
My condolences to the family,
Sherry Meltzer (JD class of "72)

I didn't know Mr. Hogue was a Ph.D. which speaks to his modesty. I never was called to his office and though he was strict (like many school officials should be) he was always polite, professional and on point whenever I did have a reason to speak with him. I will never forget his constant presence in the hallways between classes, directing students and circumventing any potential problems. His "let's get located" phrase I used with my kids and even today when I teach a group of children. It is a time-tested term and is user friendly. We need more Dr. Hogues in this sad day and age of school violence and bullying. Rest in Peace and thank you for your service to your school.

Dr. Hogue was a fair and honest man. He was very instrumental in building the integrity and pride that we all experienced at Jamesville DeWitt High School during his tenure. Much is owed to him throughout our "JD" community. Godspeed to Dr Hogue, there's a little bit of him in all of us!

RIP Dr. Hogue, You were a very kind and considerate disciplinarian, never got much by you but behind the stern voice was an understanding and generous individual. My sisters and brotherand I often fondly reminisce of the good old days at JD and laugh at the many stories we share.

My deepest sympathies are with your Family. My parents, Dick and Alice Lewis, were both teachers at JD and knew Jim well. I remember him in the halls, keeping my fellow students in line. My fondest memory was on my Senior skip day, when my friends and I piled into my Dad's car and drove right by your Dad. He was Standing at the exit of the student parking lot to keep the Seniors from leaving, but Dad's car was in the teachers lot and we sailed right by him. The look on his face was priceless!
He was strict but the students respected him.I'm sorry for your loss!

Jim was a fair and decent man and a person who earned my respect as we worked together from the mid 70's until his retirement in the mid 80s. He always did everything asked of him and was essential in keeping our school running in an orderly fashion. He was missed upon his retirement and I have nothing but good memories of the times we shared together. My sympathies to the family. He is and will be remembered.

Mr. Hogue was a favorite teacher of mine (JD 1963) even though I, as a girl, was not allowed to take shop. We enjoyed Russian Club together and had some wonderful conversations. Then somehow we both wound up in the Leesburg, Florida, area. My sincere condolences to the family. He was a sincerely nice guy and I know you will all miss him.

My condolences to the Hougue family. Mr Houge touched a lot of young lives at JDHS. Now that I have perspective, I think he was able to maintain the mien of a stern disciplinarian because he was a rock solid, strong individual himself. Underneath the disciplinarian was a caring man.

My condolences to the Hogue family. I knew Mr. Hogue from 7th grade wood shop at J-D Junior High School through High School graduation. He was a good man, though he was the school disciplinarian. He told Principal Richard McGee that he knew what to do with the "bad" boys but how to discipline the "good" boys was beyond his scope.....call their fathers" RIP Mr. Hogue.
