I met April when we were in junior high, a very very long time ago. We quickly became really good friends. One of the things I remember fondly was her laugh. She had the best laugh! She was a lot of fun to be around, we loved talking on the phone together chatting about silly teenage stuff. We had slumber parties, watched horror movies, and listened to hair metal music. Definitely 80's stuff, Aquanet, rolled up jeans haha. We had so much fun. She was the type of friend you can call for any reason. I will miss her a lot.

I met April 7 years ago when I started working for Upstate. April is not just a coworker but an awesome friend. I will cherish our conversations about music, life experiences and family. April would play classic rock on her radio which would spark great conversations about our favorite bands. April was so creative and I was in awe how she navigated the internet and created her own websites. April would bring her own Keto recipes to our department office parties that was so delicious. I believe one recipe was a blueberry tart dessert that was amazing. April knew her job so well and would have an answer to any question. The best memory I saved for last. I miss our discussions about our families. April loved her husband and sons so much and how they loved her. A lesson the world could learn. I will miss my friend deeply. Namaste

When I sit here thinking about a memory of April my mind is flooded with so many. I’ve known April most of my life, it’s hard to think of just one specific memory to share. But I can take all of those memories and roll them into one which is the memory of April herself. April is absolutely the most amazing person and friend I have ever known. A heart so huge a soul so full of life and love. It was an absolute honor to know her and even more so to be her friend. I will forever cherish every moment and every memory. I love you April, then, now and forever.

April Fairbrother, my mother; was a kind and caring person. She was always there for me and my brother, to help guide, encourage, protect and to lend an ear if we needed to talk, dropping everything she may have been doing, to do so. She was very intelligent, crafty, and business savvy. Her financial prowess was one that I admired, and have tried to adapt into my own life. Her creative and crafty side was inspirational, and I would often ask her for help if I was stumped on any of my own projects. When I was very little, she taught me how to be empathetic and to care for others, both in her words, and by her actions. She taught me to be a leader, and to be my own person. She exuded strength in many aspects of her life, as well as pocessing a bravado against people trying to pull one over on her. Her intelligence helped her in overcoming obstacles such as this, as well as many others. The compassion she greatly pocessed was that of which I have not seen in many others throughout my life. It was inspirational. Her passion and love for her family will be remembered forever in the lives fortunate enough to have known her.

I met April when I was 18 (she was 19) in 1993. She was sitting on the steps outside her apartment talking to her neighbor. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. For me it was love at first sight and the rest is history.
One of my favorite qualities that I admired about April was her initiative. When she encountered an obstacle or a problem in life, she would figure out a way to overcome it and then took the necessary action to see it through. She did this with finances, website marketing, household repairs, and her many side-business ventures. When she set her mind to something, nothing stood in her way... she called herself "The Hammer".
I would best describe April as caring, compassionate, and confident. She was always looking out for her family and friends. She had a big heart and offered her help to those in need. She challenged herself to learn things she did not know and went out of her way for the betterment of herself and her family.
The first thing most people noticed about April was her gorgeous long red hair and she was always getting compliments on it. She had a magnificent smile and beautiful eyes, both of which radiated her spirit. April had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
April was the love of my life for thirty years. She was my wonderful wife and a phenomenal mother to our children. She was my best friend and greatest companion through our life journey together.
She wanted to travel, but we never found the time or money. She wanted to make a yearly trip to NYC for Broadway shows after the kids moved out. The Celtic Nations were always a destination point she talked about. There was also the Florida, California, and Hawaii vacations she wanted to go on. She talked about spending her retirement years in the New Zealand countryside.
April's last pet, whom she loved with all her heart, was our doggie, Lexus. She was an American Eskimo Mini who was a little white fluffball full of energy, love, and had a big personality. Lexus kept April company at home when the kids were in school and I was at work. Lots of hugs and smooches.
Her main hobbies were knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed watching movies, reading, and surfing the web - all in a wide variety of genres and topics. Another one of her favorite activities was cooking and baking - although she had her favorite recipes, she kept her eye out for anything new to try. She also made it a point to spend time with her family every single night.
April loved music and enjoyed singing along to her favorite songs. Her top three songs were: "Silver, Blue, & Gold" by Bad Company, "Renegade" by Styx, and "What You Give" by Tesla. Her favorite albums were: Holy Diver by Dio, Under Lock And Key by Dokken, and The Ultimate Sin by Ozzy Osbourne. Her choice bands were: Foreigner, Blackmore's Night, Journey, Metallica, and Jimi Hendrix. Her all-time favorite singer was Dolly Parton. Although she was a self-proclaimed "hard rock and metal chick", she also loved a lot of country and classical music as well.
I cherished every moment I spent together with April and longed to return to her when we were apart. I am so grateful to have spent the last thirty years of my life with this amazing woman who made me better in her presence. She will always be missed and forever in my heart.

One of my favorite recurring memories of my mom April was when every Saturday when my brother and I were little, she would make pigs in a blanket and we would pick out a movie together to watch while eating dinner together. I don’t know why it’s such a nice memory for me, we would watch something and eat dinner together every night for as long as I can remember. I guess it just made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Sometimes it’s the little things that are most memorable and fond.

Q: What was April really good at?
A: My mom April was incredibly good at many things. One of the main things she was especially skilled and passionate about though was baking and cooking. She loved to make meals for the family to try and she was always coming up with her own new recipes. She even had her own blog that she would post her recipes to! I don’t know how she always knew what combinations of which ingredients needed to be added or tweaked, but she always made delicious food! One of my favorite recipes of hers was a keto roll cake. She loved making them for me for my birthdays; I asked for them over store-bought cakes!
