My sincere condolences to the Volcko family.
As young kids our families would get together. I just remember a lot of running around and laughing. A dozen cousins in one house is quite a noisy bunch!!
Sorry for your loss.

Remembering Pete:
When I think of my best friend Peter, I think of the gift he was for me, and for all of you.
As I prepared for today, I was reminded about these bible verses in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 11-13 and what it says about Faith Hope & Love. In part: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal…and I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, …. 7 It (Love) always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” These words so describe Pete to me.
I’m going to take a little literary License and focus on Faith, Family (Love) and Fun (Hope)
I’ll start with Fun:
He loved to have fun, oh did he! Pete loved his fishing most. He loved time with his brothers, family & friends on a boat…that is as long we were serious about fishing. He loved to golf; I remember his stories about the Jaquith golf league and when he got so frustrated that he dropped golf for a while. Then he finally picked up virtual golf and played many years with his friend Rich. He enjoyed Monday “Golf Nights”. A few weeks ago, he told me happily that “I really beat him, bad”.
Pete loved the Volcko compound in Sandy Pond – He’d spend days commuting from there in the summer to wherever he was working. And loved the family gatherings and the stories that would come from them. Pete & fun wouldn’t be complete without talking about cars. He loved his VW Beatle, right Rich! But he really loved his Saab’s. He could, and did frequently go “noggin along” pushing 100mph! His joyous fun times gave him hope.
Family:
Pete’s second love was family. I can’t count the times he shared stories about PJ, Greg, Diane and your children or Marie, he treasured all of you so much. He had special stories about his God children, and Jimmy, he was so excited to be your sponsor for confirmation. He so enjoyed the visits with Edward & Cyndi, either here or in Iowa! He has so few chances to be with you, he cherished every visit, every email, every conversation.
Paul, you have truly been a twin for Pete, in all the right ways. You have always had a special place in his heart. He and you had your share of fish stories. He spent a lot of time worrying about your health and injuries though! Pete would share stories about visiting you, Kathy and the kids with great Joy, especially for the holidays. Kathy, Pete really appreciated those haircuts!
Rich, Pete was equally delighted, and jealous about your golf skills. He was so proud and in awe of you and all you have accomplished (well there is that VW Beetle thing). We all know how you took care of Pete this past year. He couldn’t even say the words to me how grateful he was for your undying love.
His cousins, you were a joy to Pete and he really appreciated your love in the kind things you would do for him. Louann & Frank – Pete told me many things about you! Mostly all good, and for a small donation I’ll keep the appropriate secrets! – Pete loved all his family more than almost anything. Any errors of omission here is due to my memory!
Faith:
Pete, above all else, loved Jesus as his savior. While Pete struggled many times with our imperfect Church, at times creating a real crisis for him, he was a student of the bible, strong in Faith and he always came back to the church. Pete & I had hours, maybe thousands of hours talk about life, and the role of our Faith in God, and how that could always carry us. Sometimes I was reminding Pete, sometimes he was reminding me. (Yellowstone story) We each held the other accountable to our Faith. That will be his lasting gift to me, and I hope for you too.
Let me close with the rest of those verses from 1 Corinthians that so describe Pete for me starting with verse 11: 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Later today Pete, I’ll lift my hand with a toast to you, right now, I lift my heart to you. I am forever blessed for loving you for 45 years. See you in heaven!

To my Volcko friends - and all of Peter's friends...Peter was a loving, kind and deep person. He rarely said anything without really thinking about the words he chose. He always chose love for others. He has been my very best friend for 45 years, & I know that we all, like me, will miss Pete deeply. He lives on in Christ, and in our memories. I will never forget my friend. I hope that our loving Lord touches your heart with gentleness at this most difficult time.

Pete
He was my friend
We Hit it off immediately through our like and enjoyment of computers.
Then off to golf, partners on the company golf team (we stunk)
Then on to tiger woods computer golf with Paul and my son Eric.
After a while it was only the two of us.
We played 2 to 3 games every Monday night, each game was taken very seriously. His character was Colin Montgomery for the longest time.
We stuck it out for the past 13 or so years.
We talked, commiserated, and shared confidences as We were not part of the others circle. But most of all we enjoyed the competition and camaraderie.
He was a professional napper, anywhere or anytime, driving on the way to work, or in the middle of one of our close tense golf games on Monday nights, funny but true.
He was
But mostly he was
Caring
Funny
One for the rules
A Gentleman
True to his word

He was not per
Sometimes a little Cantankerous, some times a grumpy old fart, but you knew he would forgive and forget
He Believed in god and the power of prayer.
One of the few people that I know, that it’s hard to find a bad word to say about.
Will he but fish in the heavens and golf with the angels
Farewell my Friend —- Żegnaj przyjacielu

Ok. I am Andy volcko a 1st cousin. We used to go to Canada and fish with Peter, Paul and other cousins I took a cast once and sent a rubber worm Hook through his head. Not sure if it was Peter or Paul as they were twins. But Peter was one of the major cousins in the volcko group. So... I have many more memories of old and I am very sorry to hear of him passing so young
