Obituary of Suzanne Gae Luther Seeley

Please share a memory of Suzanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Suzanne Seeley, 76, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Cato, NY, November 4, 2017.   Sue was born September 15, 1941 in Pitcairn, NY, the daughter of Theodore R. and Cora E. Luther.   Sue was a 1959 graduate of Harrisville High School.  After graduation, she and her best friend, Marilyn McCarthy Stevens, left the small Town of Harrisville and moved to Syracuse, where she enrolled in secretarial school.  However, she quickly realized she absolutely hated the idea of being a secretary and applied for a position with Western Electric.  Sue spent the next 24 years assembling and repairing telephone handsets.  Upon the closure of Western Electric in 1984, Sue was employed by M.S. Kennedy of Liverpool, as a microchip assembler of microelectronics for use in the defense industry until her retirement in 2004.Sue enjoyed traveling.  She made trips to Alaska with her mother and to Germany with her friend Marilyn, as well as many trips to places throughout the United States and Canada.  She greatly enjoyed fishing, a passion taught to her by her mother and shared by many in the family.  Many pleasant times were spent on the water with family and friends.

On February 1, 1985 Sue married Nelson Addison Seeley in Cicero, NY. Nelson passed away on November 16, 2010. Together they enjoyed restoring and driving their antique Packard cars and attending Packard swap meets.  Sue and Nelson were extremely proud to be founding members of the East Grand Packard Car Club of the Upstate New York State Region (Chartered by Packard Automobile Classics, Inc.) on November 1, 1997.  Sue and other founding members were honored this past July at the Club’s 20th Anniversary luncheon.

When Sue wasn’t seeking adventures with her husband, she enjoyed stamp collecting, family genealogy, reading, gardening, rescuing stray cats, and crocheting.  Over the years, Sue crocheted scores of afghans for family and friends and more recently, had donated over 60 lap robes to the local VA for distribution to disabled vets.

Suzanne is survived by her sister, Theodora Arlene Loveridge, nephews Theodore O’Bryan (Holley), Sean O’Bryan, and Daniel Loveridge (Tracy), and niece, Laura Kellar. Her great nephews and nieces, Eric, Kate, Molly, and Rae, as well as several cousins.  Sue is also survived by her stepchildren Christopher Seeley (Colleen), Tamera Allen (Edward), Deborah Condes (Johnny), and Kimberly Seeley; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She leaves behind many dear friends, notably Loren and June Richardson, who were always there to share a cup of coffee, a meal, a good laugh or a helping hand.

A spring memorial service and burial will be held at the Pitcairn Cemetery, Pitcairn, NY at the convenience of Sue’s family.
