Obituary of Joseph F. Ferris

Joseph F. Ferris, 85, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on December 5, 2017 at the VA Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Born in Cortland, NY, he graduated from McGraw Central School in 1949. From 1950-1952, he was a member of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He began his career at Brockway trucks working there for many years and then working at Ames Chevrolet. Joe was an avid golfer, bowler, tap dancer and musician, performing with The Joe Ferris Orchestra as well as several other groups. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Julia Ferris, a brother, George and a niece, Kathryn.He is survived by his beloved daughter, Marie (Cos) Ferris, his sister-in-law Shellie Ferris, his niece Alison(Don) Bonawitz, a favorite aunt, Kay Moore and many, many cousins.There will be a celebration of life for Joe on Saturday, January 6th, 2018 at the Pastime Athletic Club, Syracuse, NY from 1-4 p.m.The family would like to thank the 8th floor staff of the VA Hospital for all of their wonderful care. In memory of Joe, please consider a donation to the DAV 344 W Genesee St # 203, Syracuse, NY 13202 or ONLINE www.dav.org
