Obituary of Donald R. Kims

Donald Ray Kims was born in Monroe, Louisiana on August 27th, 1960 to Jesse and Gladys Kims. He was called into eternal rest on Friday, October 6th, 2017. He was predeceased by his father, two brothers, Walter and Robert Kims and one brother-in-law Rayfield Scott.

Donald (Duck), as his siblings called him, attended Richwood High School, in Louisiana. Immediately after graduating from high school, Donald married and enlisted into the military. From this union, two children, Keisha and Shawn, were born.  Before moving to Syracuse, Donald faithfully served 15 years in the US Army.  While finishing his military career in Ft. Drum, NY, he met Kim Dotson. On August 1, 1992 Donald and Kim were married.  From this union, Donovan and Jada were born. While living in Syracuse, New York, Donald worked for Bristol Myers Squibb for 20 years.

Donald was very passionate about his faith, family and friends.  He also played the trumpet in his high school marching band.  Donald enjoyed long distance driving with his traveling companions, George and Cheryl Green, and watching sports.  His favorite teams were the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Kim; his children, LaKisha and Shawn Kims (Atlanta, GA); Donovan Kims (Rochester, NY); Jada Kims (Clay, NY); grandson, Jaydon Kims (Syracuse, NY); God-daughter, Brittany Jaret-Parker (Syracuse, NY); mother, Gladys Kims (Monroe, Louisiana); two brothers, Johnnie (Jaime) Kims (Summit, MO) and Toney Kims (Monroe, LA); three sisters, Catherine, Elaine and LaShonda (Malcolm) Taylor of Monroe, LA; father and mother in-law, Leonard and Eloise Dotson (Clay, NY); brother in-law, Lenny(Karen) Dotson (Cicero, NY), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services: Saturday, October 21st, 11 AM at Central Baptist Church 124 Alden Street Syracuse NY 13210.
