I remember Laura, my father's cousin, as intelligent, very pretty and kind. She was fashionable and wise. I was always a little shy around her. Myrtie, Laura's mother, was my grandmother's very best-friend and sister-in-law. I still remember listening in on their long- phone conversations (which my grandmother discouraged) and always looked forward to visits with Aunt Myrt. Laura generously offered their lake cottage to our family and also offered this place as a final home for my troubled father's ashes - Oneida Lake. She encouraged me to finish my degree as an adult--student. She was a very special person and I am sorry that I won't be able to share her Bernhard's Bay service tomorrow. Her family is blessed, for sure, to have had her- guiding and loving them through their lives.
