Obituary of Michael J. Steves

Michael J Steves (Mork), 69, passed away peacefully at home with wife Theresa by his side.  Mike was born August 19, 1948 was a graduate from Westhill High School and OCC, from there he was a SGT. in the USAF in Vietnam War 68-72. Retired after 38 years at Niagara Mohawk. Was very active in the community and belonged to the Valleys Mens Club and volunteered at Fairmont Fire Department for 20 years and was president of the Benelvolent Association for several years. For many summers he enjoyed boating and camping with family and friends on the shores of Sandy Pond. He loved going to Florida every March to get away from the cold winters. He was busy even after retirement had several jobs, bartending, working at the fair or just helping someone.

He is predeceased by his parents Reginald and Rose Steves, brother Tom, sister-inlaw Margaret, niece Maura & in-laws Bob and Pearl McConnell.

Mike was a loving and caring man and a best friend to all especially his wife of almost 30 years. Words cannot describe Mike's life, he was so giving and touched the lives  of so many people who he had met in his journey in life.

He is survived by brothers Bill (Carol) & Bob Steves. Sisters Mary (Mike) Edwards and Ginny (Don) Chalanick, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews & cousins. All who loved him.

He was a loving husband, uncle, brother & friend to many & he will never be far from our hearts. "SAMAA"

Calling hours will be at Hollis Funeral Home 1105 West Genesee St. Monday Sept. 25th. from 4-7p.m., A celebration of Mike's life will be at Most Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday Sept. 26th at 10 am. Burial at Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

A special thanks to all the staff at the Syracuse VA that treated Mike like he was part of their family with loving care!
