Obituary of Luella Elizabeth Brown

Luella Elizabeth “Betty” Brown of Syracuse New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 20th, 2017 of natural causes at Focus Rehabilitation Center of Utica, NY.A memorial service will be held at 7:30 on June 7th, 2017 at Hollis Funeral Home 1106 W. Genesee St. Syracuse.  Rev. Mary Drake will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 PM with service following, the visitation at Hollis Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hollis Funeral Home.Betty was born in Syracuse, NY on January 20th, 1930. Her childhood was spent in Manlius, Oran and Syracuse, graduating from Eastwood High School.  Betty was married to James Brown on July 13, 1963 in Baldwinsville, NY.

 Betty worked at a number of jobs including long term waitress (Cameron’s Diner) and Syracuse P.D. as a traffic guard. She enjoyed watching basketball, especially Syracuse University basketball, baseball, scratch offs and caring for her pet dogs (Buffy and Pup Pup as well as her many kitties.) She was also  involved with Syracuse United Neighbors, American Legion Aux. and other activities in her community.

Betty is survived by her Sisters Marion Goodenough (George), Barbara Claver, and brothers Roger Williams (Lee Ann) and William Kiggins (Sue) as well as a many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews

Betty is preceded in death by her parents Mary Mildred (Mil)  Foster Kiggins and Bernard Williams; her husband James Brown, her brothers, Robert Williams and Charles Williams; and sons Robert and Jerry.The family of Luella Brown wishes to extend special thanks to Betty’s dear friends Becky, Doris and Mary Belden and many other neighborhood friends, for their love, care and support over the years.  We also wish to thank the staff of the Focus Rehabilitation Center of Utica NY. For their care and support.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Central New York Cat Coalition, (CNYCC, PO Box 6182, Syracuse, NY 13217) or the Central New York SPCA  5878 East Malloy Rd. Syracuse, NY 13211.
