Announcing the passing of the beloved patriarch, Walter Kolonko on December 24th. This 90 year old, WWll USA Navy Veteran was privileged to be chosen in April by the Syracuse Honor Flight for their biannual trip to Washington DC. Walter was born to Anna (Chmura) and John Kolonko of Poland on December 15, 1926. He is predeceased by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years, RoseMarie Hanus Kolonko, sisters Mary Drebitko and Helen Lewandowski, and brother Joseph Kolonko. His title was radar wireman in the Heavy Military Department of General Electric when he retired after 37 years. He was also active in the AFL-CIO-IUE as a Chief Shop Steward, the American Legion in Cicero Post 787 and card games at the casino or John DeFransico (Eastwood Senior) Community Center.
Family was everything to Walter. Surviving children: Janice DuBrule Wagar, Deborah Kolonko, Susan (Rev. Deacon Anthony) Prince, Robert Walter Kolonko. Grandchildren Patricia DuBrule, Charles DuBrule ll (Lynn Bennett), Lynn Marie Hayes, Nicholas J. Kolonko, and in Japan MP Sargent Benjamin (Pamela) Kolonko. Great grandsons Nicholas E. DuBrule (Lauren Burghardt), Dustin DuBrule, Kassan J. DuBrule, Sean Loveless, Alan Jackson. Two Great-Great twin granddaughters, Mariah and Carla DuBrule. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours: Friday 3 to 5pm at Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, 3690Armstrong Rd Syracuse NY 13209, with a Mass of Christian Burial following calling hours.
