Obituary of Jan Evans-Tiller

Jan Evans-Tiller, 85, of Syracuse died Tuesday, September 20th of natural causes, Jan was the daughter of Alfred R. and Alma W. Lowe. She grew up in the Herkimer area and was valedictorian of Herkimer High School , Class of 1949. Jan graduated 1953 from University of Rochester, she worked as a religious educator for both the First Unitarian Church of Rochester and First Unitarian Universalist Society of Syracuse. Upon moving to Detroit, Jan worked for the Birmingham Unitarian Church in Bloomfield, MI where she was ordained as a Minister of Religious Education in May 1987. After retiring, She moved to Ithaca NY to enjoy gardening and to be closer to her children. Jan eventually moved to Tipperary Hill Syracuse where she lived for the past 3 years. Jan was predeceased by her husband, John Evans; son, John Rugh and sister, Elinor Kieffer, she is survived by her daughter, Katherine Rugh.
