Obituary of Joanna C. Komuda

Joanna C. Komuda, 85, of Solvay passed away Monday June, 4th at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Syracuse, New York, she was the youngest daughter of the late Julia and Joseph Karpinski. Joanna married her love, the late Joseph T. Komuda Sr. and raised thirteen children. They remained devoted to each other until his death in 2011. Joanna worked seven years for her son at CNY Medical Products. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church, Lakeland, NY. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and spending time with her family. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends, including an attitude that there was always room for one more. She leaves all her children and grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved and the gift of family. It has been a privilege to call her our Mother. Joanna was pre-deceased by two brothers Joseph Karpinski and Stanley Karpinski as well as three sisters, Mary Zalewski, Stephanie Jasinski, Lottie Lenweaver and one surviving sister Kate Czyz. Joanna was predeceased by her Husband Joseph T. Komuda Sr. in August of 2011 and has thirteen surviving children Joseph Jr., of Solvay, Anthony (Sally) of Camillus, Julia (Howard) Baldwin of Memphis, Jane of Camillus, Linda (Rick) Beardsley of Lakeland, Cheryl (John) Waters of Baldwinsville, John (Lynn) of Syracuse, Steve (Bonnie) of Spafford, Larry (Sherry) of Lakeland, Sandy Schepp of Fayetteville, Patty (Gene) Cummings of Churchville, Terri (Eric) Cooper of Camillus, Sharie (Russell) Pryce of Solvay with 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services: Friday 10:00 a.m. Hollis Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. Holy Cross Polish National Catholic Church in Lakeland, NY. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland.
