Obituary of Helen Lillian Opalka

June 19, 2011 Helen L. Opalka, 95, passed away Sunday at Van Duyn Home. Helen was born in Canton, NY on Christmas Day 1915 to Joseph and Mary Opalka. She lived in Syracuse most of her life and was a home aide, who’s kindness and friendship was enjoyed by everyone. She was a generous person who donated to many people and causes. Helen will be missed by her family and friends, especially her weekly “So what’s new” phone calls. Helen was predeceased by her brother, John Opalka and sister, Eva Karpenko. She is survived by sisters, Martha Koral of Cheektowaga, Clara Button of Syracuse and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
