May 8, 2011 Margaret Esther (Midge) Cherry went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Midge was born March 10, 1932 in Lysander to Alex and Mary Csiga. The sixth of seven children, Midge was active at Split Rock High School where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. After graduating in 1947, she took her place in the business world. She was a beautiful, vibrant young woman, placing fourth in the Miss Syracuse Centennial Pageant on July 7, 1951. They had two children, Melanie in 1955 and Rex in 1956 and made their home in Fairdale, NY. In 1964, Midge moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked many years in the gaming industry. In her later years she returned to her roots in Syracuse where she helped to care for her mother. Midge was a faithful member of First Christian Assembly of God Church in Syracuse. Her Church activities were near and dear to her heart. Throughout her lengthy illness her faith in God sustained her. She is now in peace at home with her heavenly Father. Midge was predeceased by her parents Alex and Mary Csiga; brothers, Alex and Frank Csiga and sisters, Lydia Ludington, Mary Denka, Laura Curtis and Clara Schad. She is survived by her children, Melanie (Gene) Calder – Remy of Texas and Rex (Jody) Putnam of Arizona; six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral Services: Wednesday 11AM at Hollis Funeral Home 1105 W. Genesee St, Syracuse. Burial: Howlett Hill Cemetery, Camillus.
