February 21, 2010 George H. Holbert, 86 of Syracuse passed away Sunday. George was born on March 6, 1923 in Starlight,PA. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of VFW Post 348. George retired after 30 years as a supervisor with Consolidated Industries. He was an active volunteer at the Bob Cecile Center, an avid fan of SU Basketball and during the summer, George enjoyed camping at Hatch Lake. George is predeceased by his son, Donald. "George was a loving husband and father, he adored his wife and daughters." He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Patricia Holbert; daughters, Patricia Ann (Charles Mapley) Holbert, Nancy(Randy) Adsitt of GA and Linda(Angelo) Napomoceno of Bristol,CT; sons, Richard, George Jr.(Sue) and Stephen Holbert; brothers, Clarence(Catherine) and William(Beverly) Holbert; sister, Olive(Larry) Fiagel; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Calling Hours: Hollis Funeral Home Wednesday 4 to 6:30 PM with funeral services following. Burial with Military Honors: Thursday 2 PM in Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
