October 22, 2009 Sigmund A. “Ziggy” Jurkiewicz, 93 of Syracuse, passed away Thursday October 22, 2009 in his home with his and daughter by his side. Ziggy was a communicant of the Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Jesus, an Army Veteran of WWII who served as an Honor Guard for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Ziggy retired as a foreman with RE Dietz Company. His wife, Mildred Wilson Jurkiewicz, predeceases Ziggy. “Ziggy was a very generous man, who helped his family and friends, that is his legacy” He is survived by his son Jim and daughter, Cindy (as Ziggy lovingly referred to her) Keller; 3 grandsons, James (Racquel), Sigmund (Michelle) and Edward (Michele) Keller; and 11 great grandchildren.
