Obituary of Julian Anthony Zack

April 16, 2016 Julian Anthony Zack, 88, of Lakeland, died peacefully at St. Camillus on Saturday April 16. He was born August 11, 1927 to the late Jan Felix and Agata Wieczorek Zak. He married the former Marcianna Haberek on August 22, 1953 and they spent almost 63 years together. He was predeceased by his 4 brothers: Matthew, Edward, Jan and William and 3 sisters: Sr. Mary Christine Ann, CSSF, Stella Szepek and Lottie Noldan. SURVIVING: His wife, Marcia; daughters Christine Shephard of Liverpool, Judy Ann (William) Dougherty of Syracuse and Cynthia (Gary) Laporta of Rochester and sons Mark R. Zack and John D. (Bobbie Jordan) Zack both of Baldwinsville; grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Joshua and Xavier Dougherty, Alexander and Benjamin Przepiora, and Katelyn Zack; sister-in-law Mary Zack of Kentucky, and many nieces and nephews. Julian served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a foreman for over 40 years at Syracuse Tank and Manufacturing, retiring in 1989.He enjoyed the hobby of photography, and was a handyman his entire life who could fix or build just about anything. He also served on the decorating committee for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Most of all, Julian loved to be at home with his family. Friends may join the family for calling hours on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 West Genesee St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday 9:30 am at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus 927 Park Ave. Burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes.
