October 29, 2007 Jack Brandt, 74, of Syracuse passed away October 29th, 2007. Jack is retired from the United States Navy and was formerly employed 35 years with Western Electric, 3 years Syracuse City School District and Onondaga Supply. Jack was actively involved with the following organizations; Vice President of Telephone Pioneers, Cub Master of Pack # 76, assistant Boy Scout Master of Troop #76, committee member of Boy Scout Troop #1276, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 6282, 4th Degree Knights of Lithuania #140, American Legion 1276, National Commander of Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Founder and Commander of the Department of New York Navy Seabee Veterans of America, Founder and Secretary Treasurer of Island X19 , member of Chief’s Club X 19 and was the 1973 Seabee of the Year. Jack enjoyed going to Vermont, fishing, camping, hunting and following his grandchildren’s sports. Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine Cravetts Brandt and children, Ann Marie (Charles) Lawton, Stephen (JoAnne) Brandt and Mary K. (Robert) Larson, grandchildren; Jenna Brandt, Robby Larson, Michael Brandt, Matthew Larson, Christopher Lawton and Elizabeth Larson, sisters; Virginia (Bob) Matthews and Jean Hennessy, sister-in-law; Sally (Robert) Cummings, several nieces and nephews. His parents, Anthony and Evelyn Brandt; niece; Julianne Freeman and nephews, Thomas and Glenn Matthews, predecease Jack. Calling Hours: Thursday 4 to 7pm at Hollis Funeral Home Funeral Services: Friday 9:30 AM at Hollis Funeral Home and 10:30 AM in The Basilica of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. Burial with Honors: Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse The family would like to thank all the nurses and Doctors at the ROC and 8th floor of University Hospital for the wonderful care, support and encouragement they gave Jack through his courageous battle.
