Obituary of Sarah M. Brown
Sarah “Sally” (Daniszewski) Brown, 95, passed away on Tuesday,
December 3, 2024, at St. Camillus Nursing Home, Syracuse, NY.
Sarah was born on February 13, 1929, the third daughter of Bertha
(Zelinski) Daniszewski; grew up in Syracuse’s West End; and attended
the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus most all her life. She married
Harold “Brownie” Brown on July 27, 1951, and the two immensely
enjoyed nearly 63 years together in Fairmont. Sarah found both great
satisfaction and wonderful friendships throughout her 45-year career at
Syracuse China, where she worked as a quality control inspector. She
proudly contributed to a book published in 1997 by Syracuse University
Press chronicling the people who pioneered the pottery’s manufacturing
of vitrified fine china with distinctive high-quality “rolled edges,”
thereby revolutionizing America’s hotel and restaurant dining.
Sarah was predeceased by her husband and her two older sisters, Clara
(Frederick) Waibel and Virginia (Dominic) Celletti. She is survived by
her dear sister Margaret (Eli) Marposon of Westvale, NY; her much-
loved nieces and nephews: Barbara (Steven) Carr, Donna Gibbs, James
(Mary) Celletti, Frederick Waibel, Dale (Mary) Waibel, Gregory
Marposon, Christopher (Karen) Marposon, Daniel (Cristin) Marposon,
and Martin (Angela) Marposon; and her cherished cousins: Mary Ann
Zelinski and Kathleen (Charles) Casson; as well as several great-nieces
and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Sarah’s Memorial Funeral Mass on
Friday, December 13, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Sacred
Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse, NY. A graveside ceremony
will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland, 6650 Beach Rd.,
Syracuse.
To honor Sarah, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name
to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Preservation Fund, 927 Park
Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
