Obituary of Barbara Kaszubinski

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Barbara A. (Alinder) Kaszubinski, 80 of Lakeland passed away peacefully November 22, 2024 at home. She was born in Syracuse to the late Arnold and Mary (Plochocki) Alinder in 1944. She was a lifetime resident of Syracuse and Lakeland.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Susan Alinder; brother, Rob Alinder and dedicated husband of 45 years, Robert ("Kaz”).

Barb is survived by her children Lisa Stone (Bob Ernestine), Vicki Overend (Scott Blackburn) and Dan (Desereé) Kaszubinski, her five grandchildren; Edward, Susie, Delaney, Max and Davin and one Great-Grandson, Sonny as well as her lifelong best friend, Mary Smolen and her four-legged sidekick, Mojo.

Barb was a dedicated wife to Bob for 45 years before his passing. They will be reunited and celebrating their 59th anniversary together again.

Barb spent most of her life as a factory worker. She was a dedicated and hard-working woman who put everyone’s needs before her own. She worked her body tirelessly and she was able to out-work most of the men. She retired from Miller/Owen's Brockway in Auburn after 30 years.

Barb’s strong Christian faith was the guiding purpose in her life. She passed that unwavering belief onto her family. She shared her deep-rooted faith with Bob which ultimately led to his acceptance of Christ.    She had a big heart and shared with numerous charities; her generosity knew no boundaries.

Barb’s greatest accomplishment was her three children. She would do anything for her kids and would prioritize to give her kids everything they ever needed. She created memories for the sake of her children, going on family vacations, such as camping trips to Fish Creek and Myrtle Beach.  She often expressed how blessed she felt that they all lived close to her in their adult lives, creating a tight-knit family. She enjoyed having conversations with them about her passions of religion, politics and her grandchildren.

Being so close to each other, Barb spent many years caring for her grandchildren, which were the light of her life. She was the ultimate Grammy, spoiling them and giving them whatever they wanted, often outside of their parents’ wishes.  As they got older, Barb enjoyed sharing the stories of her life with them, as well as learning what is happening in their lives.

Although she didn’t think so, Barb often was the life of the party. She could be seen shaking her “dupa” on the dance floor, especially if one of her favorite songs were played, like “Old Time Rock n’ Roll”, “Blurred Lines” or anything by her ultimate favorite artist, Elvis “the King” Presley. Even in her final days, she lit up when her songs were played.

She leaves a legacy of family, faith, and many great memories. Even though she will be missed, she is finally at home which is where she wanted to be.  She is now with her savior, Jesus Christ, her husband Bob….and Elvis.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Crouse Hospital for their compassion, care and support during Barb’s time in the hospital.
