Obituary of Genevieve Purchiaroni

Genevieve T. Purchiaroni (Kot) 96 of Syracuse passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Born on July 18^th,1928, Genevieve was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and a communicant of Sacred Heart Basilica and Blessed Sacrament Church. Genevieve was predeceased in 1988 by the love of her life of 41 years, Joseph A. Purchiaroni Sr. Also, predeceased by her mother Julia and father Stanley Kot, her 5 brothers, 2 sisters, her granddaughter Tracey Pitcher and her son-in-law Bob Pitcher.

She is survived by her 5 children, Margaret Pitcher of SC, Cynthia (Paul) O’Mara of Canastota, Joseph (Lois) Purchiaroni Jr. of East Syracuse, Annette (Paul) Juneau of SC and Donna (Rene) St. Cyr of Liverpool, 12 Grandchildren, 29 Great-Grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

She spent most of her life dedicated to her family’s happiness and wellbeing, always ready to feed and support in every way. Her family says you couldn’t possibly ask for a better loving mother, mother-in-law, grandma and GiGi.

Gen and her two sisters, Lottie and Mary, could often be seen together as the three Amigo’s or Golden Girls attending the NY State Fair, Polish Home events and Polish Festivals.

The family is forever grateful for the care given to our mother by Dr. Barbara Krenzer, Dr. Catherine White, Dr. Robert Carhart, the Staff at the Heart Clinic, Rose Soto and most recently by the staff of Upstate Medical Hospital, Floor 6A.

Gen will be missed by the friends she made at Town of Onondaga Senior Center, St. Joseph’s Manor and Buckley Landing.

To celebrate Gen’s life, family and friends are invited to gather Sunday from 1 to 3PM at the Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 West Genesee St. Syracuse.

Funeral Service: 9:30AM in the Sacred Heart Basilica, 927 Park Ave, Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
