Thomas H Balamut Obituary

Thomas H. Balamut, 75 passed away on Friday, August 9,2024  at St Joseph’s hospital peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was the last surviving son of predeceased Katherine (Yager) and Ignatius Balamut.  He was the beloved baby brother of Matthew and David Balamut (both predeceased).  He proudly serviced in the Vietnam War and then retired from Crucible Steel after 33 years of service.   Being a Syracuse native, he loved supporting all the local Syracuse Sports teams from Syracuse University, Mets, Crunch and especially when Syracuse had the Nats.   He always routed for the home team whether it was a Syracuse team or any NY team.Besides his love for local sports, he enjoyed nature and animals.   He spent a lot of time fishing, camping, hiking the Adirondacks, and walking through our zoo or just walking around Beaver Lake or Webster Duck Pond.   He also enjoyed visiting our National Parks.  He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty and love for his family, friends, and animals.     He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita (Sevier) Balamut; and his children Tammy Balamut; Brian Balamut; and Katherine (Tony) Zappala; along with two grandchildren Victoria and Lukas Zappala.


Private Service and burial will take place.
