Obituary of John James Brieaddy
John James Brieaddy, Jr., lovingly referred to as Skip, died on May 15, 2024. John, the son of John “Jack” James Brieaddy, Sr. and Lottie Kapa Brieaddy, was born on May 17,1946. John graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1964 and attended Central City Business Institute, Syracuse. John was a United States Army veteran who was stationed in Germany. He retired as a Project Manager from the United Parcel Service, where he participated in the early sponsorship of their NASCAR entry. In retirement he happily volunteered at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo and was a member of the Zoo to You traveling educational program. John was an avid book and record collector, lifelong Yankees fan, Syracuse University sports fan, and a member of the Mycroft Holmes Society. John married the love of his life, Joan Dymus Brieaddy, on his birthday May 17, 1975. They shared their love for more than half a century and were faithfully married for just two days short of forty-nine happy years. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Francis “Frank” Brieaddy, and mother-in-law, Wanda Bidnik Dymus. John is survived by his loving wife, Joan, his sister, Catherine (Arthur) Quinn, his sister-in-law, Janet Klodzen Brieaddy, his brother-inlaw, Stanley Dymus, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday, May 20, 2024, at the Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be held the morning of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave., Syracuse followed by the Burial with Honors at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland.
