Mary Meetze, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was born in Lyons, New York, but later made her home in central NY. She worked at Alling and Cory paper company as a bookkeeper. It was there she met her husband of 62 years, Lester. She is survived by her daughter, Lori Ryan (Lee) and grandsons Jason and Jarod Ryan. Mary was predeceased by her husband Lester, her daughter Rita Komph (John), twin granddaughters and a sister, Beverly Mercurio. She was a woman of faith. She volunteered many years at the Dominican Monastery on Court Street in Syracuse until it closed in 2020. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved being around animals and she rescued many animals during her lifetime. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 14, at Hollis Funeral Home in Syracuse, from 4 to 6 pm. A mass of Christian Burial Rites will be held May 15 at 11:00 am at Epiphany Parish at St Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue of North Syracuse or HumaneCNY of Liverpool.
