Obituary of Norbert Thomas Lukacs

Norbert “Toby” Lukacs – 91, of Westvale, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 13, 2014, while being cared for by his children. He proudly served our Country in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from General Electric. He belonged to the Basilica of Sacred Heart (Syracuse). Norbert was a member and became president of the old Happy Hearts Club and was also a star athlete in many sports. Norbert dedicated his time to the West End Little League Baseball and retired after serving 25 years as a coach, and had the Skrupa’s field renamed “Toby Lukacs Field” in his honor. He was the father everyone should have had, never missing any of his children’s events no matter how insignificant it might have been; he would spend his vacation days to be there. He also enjoyed ice fishing and Syracuse lacrosse, and would often attend NCAA tournaments. He adored spending time with his grandchildren and was very involved in their lives. Norbert is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia (Kielecki), six sons and one daughter. Norbert (Cathy) Lukacs, Mark (Cathy) Lukacs, Paul (Jeanette) Lukacs, Robert (Robin) Lukacs, Steve Lukacs, Richard (Abby) Lukacs, and Virginia (Greg) Langdon. He also has a sister, Maureen Lynam. 15 Grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Calling Hours: Monday 4 to 7pm Hollis Funeral Home 1105 West Genesee Street Syracuse.
