Obituary of Francis Stanley Brieaddy

Please share a memory of Francis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Francis “Frank” Stanley Brieaddy died at home on May 17, 2023. Frank was born in Syracuse, NY to John and Lottie (Kapa) Brieaddy.  He graduated from Sacred Heart High School where he fell in love with his high school sweetheart and future wife, Janet Klodzen.  Upon graduation from St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism, Frank was employed by the Syracuse newspapers. He worked as a reporter, editor and columnist.

Frank was also an avid photographer.  In addition to capturing a nationally published photo of John and Yoko touring the Everson Museum, he also photographed the wonder of his nieces, nephews, children and grandchildren. Later his subject matter included beautiful photos of local wildlife including the flowers, butterflies, and deer exploring the backyard, as well as the bald eagles at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and Onondaga Lake.  When not taking photos, he was a voracious reader, and enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. Additionally, he was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and followed Syracuse Athletics. He always looked forward to trips to Narragansett, Rhode Island to take in the relaxation of the ocean surrounded by loved ones. His greatest joys were serving as coach for his children’s sport teams and was a super aficionado of all of his children’s and grandchildren’s stellar performances in both choral and band ensembles.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Cristin (Clint) Dupew and son, Brendan Brieaddy; sister, Catherine (Arthur) Brieaddy Quinn, and brother John (Joan) Brieaddy Jr; grandchildren Joseph Kamantauskas, Patrick Dupew, Joshua Kamantauskas, Cynthia Dupew, Mary Rose Kamantauskas and Samuel Kamantauskas and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Alexander Kamantauskas and brother-in-law, Joseph P. Klodzen.
