Obituary of Virginia Rowse

Virginia (Urbanik) Rowse, 98, died on April 17, 2023. She was born in Syracuse, NY on January 26, 1925. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and graduated from Central Tech Highschool. Virginia married Leland Rowse on November 26, 1955 . She left her job as a secretary at Syracuse City Hall to raise their daughters on Tipperary Hill.

Virginia enjoyed her porch swing, kitchen rocker and doing crosswords.  She was an accomplished seamstress and had a lifelong love of dogs and cats.

Virginia was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, parents and older sister. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Mark) Burdick of Manlius and Sandra (Pat) Miele of Troy; grandchildren Jared (Lauren) Burdick of Fayetteville, Laurel (Pat) Leone of Manlius, Joseph Miele and Daniel (Angela) Miele of Troy, Kari (Mike) Smith of New Windsor; great-grandchildren, Jack and Hannah Leone, Benjamin and Scarlett Miele, Robert, Caleb, Keegan, Jameson and Piper Smith; sister Kathleen (David) Hazen of Las Vegas; friend and neighbor Melanie Woodard; a niece and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff in Unit D at St. Camillus for their care in her last year of life.  

A private family service will be followed by burial at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
