Obituary of Joyce Hammer

Joyce Ann (Stoetzel) Hammer, 87, passed away February 19, 2023 with her 4 daughters gathered around her bedside. She spent her last weeks with her family enjoying meals, laughs and playing games. Joyce kept busy sending out her YouTube songs, completing crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite crime shows with an apple fritter in hand.  She also stayed in touch with her lifelong friends, Mary Ann and Betty E. and made sure her dog, Ramsey, was tucked in for the night. 

Joyce was born in Lancaster, NY and was a daughter to John & Lorraine Stoetzel and sister to Betty, Jerry, and Jack. This is where she attended St. Mary's Elementary and High School. 

Joyce’s children from her marriage to William Hammer, Susie (David) Mazzoni, Barbie (Frank) Majuk, Pattie (Pat) Kerl and Billie (Jeff) Tylec brought her much joy (and entertainment). She found much pleasure in being surrounded by family, enjoying her Labatts Blue, a table full of goodies, and her favorite songs playing in the background.

Her memory will live on in her grandchildren: PJ (Jill-great granddaughter, Nova) Jamie, Hannah, Joey,  (granddog, Presley), Jake, Kaylee, Sammie, (granddog, Benji), Ryan (Alissa-great granddaughter, Elaina), Tyler, Kelsey, Lindsay, (granddog, Jersey). Especially memorable for her all her grandchildren were family gatherings that included charades, Wii bowling,  water balloons, lottery scratch offs, and lots of laughter.

Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us to keep it simple and enjoy the moment.

To honor her memory and her strong Catholic faith, Joyce wished to have a celebration of life. She will be remembered in a private ceremony in the springtime with funny, strange, and silly stories, and to raise a toast to what was good and blessed in her life.
