Obituary of Frank J. Czyz

August 24, 2014 Frank J. Czyz of Camillus , son of Sebastian and Frances Czyz of Syracuse passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 with his children at his side. He was the last surviving member of his family which included four sisters and three brothers. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Catherine, and is survived by: daughter Kathleen LaBeaf of Mexico; son David Czyz of Mexico, 5 grandchildren, Christine Bucklin, Michael Bucklin, Leanne Rasha, Danielle Czyz and Rebecca Czyz, an a great grandson Cyril McCormick. Mr. Czyz served in the World War II European Theatre 201st Battalion in the U.S. Army as a medic. After his discharge in 1945 he began his career as a mechanic at Rusterholtz & Rossell, was the proprietor of Frank’s Service Station for 13 years, and was a retired employee of Niagara Mohawk. He was a faithful and dedicated communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and served in many capacities for over more than thirty years including: Director of the Holy Name Society Lector from 1981 to 2012 Associate Coordinator of Bingo A member of the Polish Home Member of the Polish Heritage Club Director of the Polish Scholarship Fund Member of the West Side Seniors Frank was long time member of various bowling and golfing leagues, and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors. Frank will be remembered for his quick smile and keen sense of humor. He was a wonderful dancer and singer who loved sharing a song with Monsignor Cantor and Monsignor Gleba. He will be truly missed by many friends who knew and loved him as well as his entire family especially many of his nieces and nephews who always took the time to visit and spend time with him.
