Obituary of Florence DeFazio Becallo

Florence Edith (DeFazio) Becallo 

October 20, 1933 - August 8, 2022

Florence Edith Becallo, 88, of Syracuse, passed peacefully on Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of Mary (Graziano) DeFazio and Anthony DeFazio. 

Florence was a graduate of Franklin K. Lane high school in Brooklyn, with additional training in business specialties. In 1952, Florence and Joseph Becallo wed in Brooklyn.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as traveling. Originally a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, she eventually became a NY Yankees fan along with Joe and enjoyed attending and watching games. She also spent her time playing cards with her friends, reading, and in the company of her cat.

Florence is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Paul Becallo, and her sisters: Ann DeFazio, Angela Graziano, and Gloria DeFazio Dunn. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Maria Becallo and Ruth Dorion; son, Paul Becallo (Rosemary), daughters: Catherine Becallo Smith (Harold), Grace LaValle (Santo), Frances Becallo Hradil (David Farrell), and Christina Stearns (William); grandchildren: Laura Becallo Preece (David), Michael Becallo (Nicole Casamento), LeAnn Smith, Marisa Becker (Devin), Jaime White (Jason), Giana LaValle, Nicholas LaValle, Anthony LaValle, Elizabeth Hradil, Alec Stearns, Dayna Stearns, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, August 19th at Hollis Funeral Home at 1105 West Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday,August 20th at 10 AM in St. Augustine's Church 7333 O'Brien Road, Baldwinsville, NY, 13027.
