Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Helen (Del Favero) Tovern

Helen Stella Tovern - 90, of Barefoot Bay, FL formerly of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully in Palm Bay, FL on Saturday August 6, 2022.

Helen was born in Syracuse to Charles and Sophie Murawski on November 1, 1931.  Helen and her seven siblings were first generation Americans and proud of their Polish heritage.  She was a participant at Sacred Heart and Most Holy Rosary Catholic Churches, graduated from Porter High school and retired as social worker secretary for Onondaga County Department of Social Services.

Helen and her pre-deceased husband John “The Plumber” Tovern were married for 28 years, they moved to their beloved Barefoot Bay, FL home in 2001, were active participants at St Luke’s Catholic Church where Helen sang in the choir and John was an usher.  Helen was voted ‘most popular’ in high school, bowled, golfed, traveled, loved tap dancing and especially the spotlight, dancing at Monday night music bingo in the Bay was one of her favorites.  She was involved in many clubs and activities in the Bay, including a member of the Moose Club of Sebastian, FL.  Helen was lovingly referred to as the ‘Queen Bee’ by her four sons and ‘the Chief’ by her siblings.  Helen was uber friendly and quick-witted, she had a wonderful sense of humor, was self-deprecating and would do anything for a laugh.

Helen loved her four sons, family and many lifelong friendships especially Mitzi “the Beast” Pirro.  Surviving are sons and wives; John (Robin) Del Favero of Greenville SC, Donald (Lyn) Del Favero of Castle Rock CO, Thomas (Nadine) Del Favero of Apache Junction AZ and Mark (Terri) Del Favero of Skaneateles NY, seven grandsons Jacob, Phil, Christopher, Michael, David, Mark and Tyler, one great-grandson Cade, two siblings Florence Palmiere (95), John Murawski (88) and many nieces and nephews.  Helen was pre-deceased by former spouse John J. Del Favero.

Helen was cherished by all, will be sorely missed but never forgotten…
