Lester Meetze, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 15, with family by his side. He was born in Columbia, South Carolina, but made Central New York his home after serving in the Korean war. He retired from Alling and Cory paper company where he worked for 30 years . It is there where he met his wife of over 62 years, Mary. After retiring from Alling and Cory, he later went back to work part time at Green Hills Farm grocery where he worked into his 80’s. He is survived by his wife, Mary Meetze, his daughter Lori Ryan (Lee) and grandsons Jason and Jarod Ryan. Lester was predeceased by his daughter Rita Komph (John), twin granddaughters and several brothers and sisters. He was a strong man of faith. He volunteered for over 50 years at the Dominican Monastery on Court Street until it closed in 2020. He loved to make people laugh and to spend time with this family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Calling hours will be held 4 to 6 PM Monday, July 11 at Hollis Funeral Home in Syracuse, New York.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial Rites will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 12, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 425 Beechwood Avenue in Liverpool 13088
