Obituary of John Solomon

July 12, 2014 John Solomon, 91, of Lakeland, passed away Saturday July 12, 2014. He was the son of Frank and Nellie Solomon. John graduated from Solvay High School and attended University of Illinois. John was an Army Veteran of WWII, where he served as a Military Policeman. He was awarded the American Service Medal, Good Conduct and Victory Medals. John retired after 30 years as an inspector tester at Western Electric and served on the Board of Directors of their Credit Union. He was also, a union steward of Local 1197. John was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church Lakeland and an usher there for over 20 years and President of the Holy Name Society. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with family and friends. At one time he coached the Lakeland Little League baseball team. John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Luteran Solomon; daughters, Marcia Atwood of Albany, Andrea(Matthew) Agley of Cicero, Lisa(Richard) Servatius of Syracuse and Carol Solomon of Lakeland; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Caitlin Agley, Lauren Atwood Yake and Courtney French; as well as several nieces and nephews.
