Obituary of Zofia Bienko

July 6, 2014 Zofia Bienko, 77, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday morning after a brief battle with cancer. Zofia was born in Sasiadowice, Poland on August 13, 1936 to her parents, Tomasz Dziedzinski and Maria Dziedzinska. Zofia was a communicant of the Basilica of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Syracuse. She enjoyed spending time at Eva's European Sweets with Eva, was an avid reader, gardener, and known for her cooking among friends and family. She is predeceased by her parents, husband Jan Bienko, sister Genia Dziedzinska, and daughter Krystyna Szelazek. She is survived by her sons Janusz and Stanislaw (Anna), sister Alicja Zagorska, and brother Kazimierz Dziedzinski, all of Poland. She is also survived by her grandchildren Adrian, Camilla, Carina, and Robert Szelazek, all of Syracuse, Marlena Henzel, of Germany, Wioletta Kluge, Tomasz and Bartlomiej Bienko, all of Poland. Great grandchildren Zuzanna Bienko, Barbara and Robert Kluge, all of Poland, and Viktor and Melissa Henzel, of Germany. Calling hours are private, with Catholic Mass at the Basilica on Thursday, July 10 at 9.30am, followed by burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland. Reception in lieu of calling hours to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Zofia's name may be made to the Basilica of Sacred Heart of Jesus, 927 Park Ave, Syracuse NY 13204.
