Obituary of Noeleen Sohtra
Noeleen Sohtra, 58 years old, completed her time on Earth and went to Heaven on Friday, November 26th 2021. She was lovingly called “Bublee” by her Pakistani family. She was the wife of Nasir Sohtra and shared thirty-one beautiful years of love with her husband. She was the mother of Natasha Sohtra and Nicole Imeson.
Noeleen was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and was the daughter of the respected Lall Gill and Razia Gill. She was a student in Pakistan, while serving in her church by teaching the youth and participating in events and plays herself. Noeleen immigrated to America in 1988. Noeleen’s occupational career was spent at Syracuse Hancock Airport, the Bonton, and in most recent years she worked as a language interpreter at inpatient and outpatient medical facilities. Noeleen purposefully made the independent decision to work part-time to be available for her family. Throughout her years, she spent time caring for her father in Pakistan and mother in America. She found enjoyment in being able to support her husband, daughters, and brother.
Noeleen was a recent member of Abundant Life Christian Center, where she enjoyed worshipping the Lord and learning the Word. She was previously a member of Believer’s Chapel, where she enjoyed worshipping, learning, and also served as the prayer ministry leader for some time. In the last year of her life on Earth, she was also partnering with Faith Journey church by hosting prayer events. Noeleen independently led women’s groups to encourage others and pray with them. She fervently served the Lord and spent time writing and creating videos both independently and with her husband to spread the love of Jesus. Noeleen had a creative soul, and she enjoyed drawing, writing poetry, sewing clothes for herself and daughters, and enjoying American and Pakistani musical talents. She was a humble woman, who was beautiful without any extra efforts. Noeleen was always requested to cook, as the delicious food she made was craved by all. One of her biggest hobbies was laughing with others, and she found the greatest enjoyment in spending most of her time serving the Lord and others. She will be remembered by her bold personality, her joy for life, and ability to find positivity and humor in all areas.
She is survived by her husband Nasir Sohtra, children Natasha Sohtra and Nicole Imeson, son-in-law Dallas Imeson, sister Naila Farooq and family, Noreen Farhat and family, and brother Noel Gill. She was predeceased by her parents Lall and Razia Gill and her brother Norman Gill.
The calling hours will be held Saturday December 4, 2021 from 10:30a-12p at Believers Chapel. The celebration of her life will follow from 12p-1p. The burial will take place at North Syracuse Cemetery.
