Obituary of Michael Neufang

Michael P. Neufang, 65, passed away on October 28, 2021 at his home in Solvay, NY. Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of Charles and Mary Neufang. He attended West Genesee High School and worked his entire life as a stone mason, following in his father’s footsteps.

Mike loved music and started playing guitar in his early teens. His guitars and vinyl albums were always among his most cherished items. He loved dogs. Or rather they loved him. He was not just a dog whisperer, but almost a dog psychic. Dogs were drawn to him, and devoted. For a while he had a small pack of assorted mutts ranging from teacup size to giants. He said he would be standing in the kitchen thinking to himself that he had to go do an errand and the dogs would all come running so that he wouldn't leave without them. He could walk the trails with them all off leash and they never left his side.

He is survived by long-time partner Cynthia Thompson, daughter Alison Neufang, son Frank Nakoma Neufang, sister Charlene Neufang Wheeler, brother Richard Neufang, 3 grandchildren, dog Sweetpea, and cat Stormy.
