Obituary of John F Townsend Jr

John F.Townsend Jr 78 of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday February 19, 2021. John was predeceased by his wife Barbara Jean , children Frank , Peter Mulvihill and Daughter Carmella Townsend. Also his sibling s Marsha and Loius Townsend and grandson Anthony Allen Mulvihill.

  Born in Syracuse to the late John F. Townsend Sr and Martha Townsend. 

John worked for Syracuse Midstate Springs for over 25 years and after The old Castle Rest Nursing home until illness forced him to retire. 

John enjoyed a good book (mostly scary) and Loved the Cincinnati Bengals football team. He Loved Jazz and blues music. You could often find him sitting on his porch on Seymour Street with his book in one hand , cup of black coffee in the other with his CD player blasting his music. 

John was a gentle soul known to his great grandchildren as Tickle Bear. He loved each and everyone of his children and grandchildren. Not a Man of many words but when he talked oh boy he talk your ear off. 

John is survived by his children. Edward Mulvihill(Julie), Colleen McLeod (Joseph), Georgianna Bobik(Michael), John Townsend (Carol), and Daughter in law Roberta Emerson. 15 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and A very special Niece Lorie Burgin whom he loved like his own. 

John family would like to Thank the 8th floor Loretto-Cunningham for all their Love, compassion and care they gave John and his family as well. There is not enough words to express the gratitude they will forever have to them all.
