Obituary of Lillian Kobuszewski Sadlocha

Lillian (Kobuszewski) Sadlocha was peacefully called home by the Lord on the morning of December 24, 2020.  Lillian “Lil” was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late John and Katherine Kobuszewski.  She was a graduate of Solvay High School and a lifelong communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where she was a member of the I.J. Paderewski Choir, and the Rosary Society. She was also past President of the Symfonia Ladies Choral Society and an Honorary Member of the Polish Singers’ Alliance of America.   She was a Lifetime member and Director of the Syracuse Polish Community Home where she held the distinction of being the first female president in 2003 and initiated their bingo program in 1990.  She also gave freely of her time as a volunteer for many years at St. Joseph’s Hospital gift shop.

Lillian began her career as a legal secretary with the law firm of Smith, Sovik, Levine & Richardson, subsequently working with the law firm of Estabrook, Estabrook, Burns & Hancock.  She retired in 2001 from the Onondaga County Law Department with 25 years of service.  Her passions in life were her family, friends, and the traditions of her Polish ancestry.  She was a gifted soprano, particularly harkening the joy of the “Hallelujah” chorus.  Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, reading, and shopping (and could always find a bargain). 

Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Edmund, in 1984 and her sister, Barbara Kobuszewski, in 2016.  She is survived by her devoted sons, Christopher (Sallye) of Gilbertsville, NY, Stephen (Cynthia) of Minoa, NY, and loving daughters Catherine (Richard) Whitford of Edmond, OK, Cynthia (Clif) Richmond of Marietta, NY, and beloved ‘Babci’ to her grandchildren Joseph, Daniel, and Nicholas Sadlocha, Jennifer and Julia Richmond, and step-grandchildren Lia, Jason (Christina), and Adam Whitford and three step-great grandchildren, brother Fred Kobuszewski and companion Sandy Lawton of Oneonta, NY and five nieces and nephews and special niece, Patricia Trexler of Fulton, NY.  She had many wonderful friends and lived a long and happy life.  She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no calling hours.  Family and friends may attend her Mass of Christian burial at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at 9:30 am on Monday, December 28^th, where social distancing and mask wearing are required.   Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes.
