I am so saddened by his passing. We attended Harpur College together where I was once his dorm counselor. We hooked up again years later. A great man who left the most positive mark. I can only hope I had some positive impact on him, as he did with me. RIP.

I knew Paul only distantly, as one of my favorite patrons at Baldwinsville Public Library. He always got out the most interesting books and movies, and I found him to be a brilliant, kind, polite, humorous man with wide-ranging tastes. I'm sure he helped an untold number of people through his work, just as he helped me simply through Facebook messaging.
My best to his wife and family. He will not be forgotten.

I picture Paul in heaven with 1000 arms, to hold all those that were dear to him, and a special place closest to his heart for his family. He was such a patient, kind, compassionate, special person.

Anita, it is with great sorrow that I read about Paul in today's paper.
What a kind and gentle man he was.
It was such a pleasure to have met you both.
I pray that God will hold you close and bless you.
My deepest sympathies.

Not every pastor is also a volunteer fireman. Paul was everything one wants in a pastor, someone involved in the community, who was a friend to all, churched and un-churched.

Paul was a man of great empathy and compassion. The world is dimmer for his loss. I will always be grateful to have known him, if only briefly.

I knew Paul from my time at Onondoga Pastoral Counseling Center and then kept up contact, latterly through Facebook, over the years. I am so sorry that the world has lost such a voice for justice, compassion and understanding. He was a wonderful, gentle man of faith. May he rest in peace in the arms of our loving God whom he served so faithfully.

Paul was one of my earliest colleagues and one that was treasured. The Northern Conference sheltered many of us in the 70s as God defined and honed our paths in the ministry
People like Paul and Stan and Bill and Garrie and Russell and others as well created our own either Camelot or Lake Wobegon
Thank You for sharing Paul with us

Very saddened to learn of Paul's passing. While he had told me he was termnally ill, I did not think we would lose him so quickly. I met Paul many years ago at Harpur College (SUNY Bighamton) and reconnected through Facebook several years ago. My memories of him will be a gentle and caring man who dedicated his life to the Ministry and serving his fellowman. Sincere condolences to his family on this great loss. The world is a better place because of Paul's time here. Now he can be at peace flying with the angels.

I was shocked to hear that Reverend Darnell's illness progressed so quickly. I worked with Him here at Hutchings, and we became vast friends, he gave me so much support during my husbands illness and passing, as well as my mothers, fathers and my own illnesses. Reverend Darnell had a heart of Gold. He was a tremendous friend, and coworker. My heart goes out to Anita, and the whole family during this great time of sadness. May you find comfort in his memory and may he rest with the Lord. He is deeply missed.

I was so sad to hear from Paul how fast his illness had progressed, and now to hear of his loss so soon. It was a joy to work with Paul at Hutchings, and to continue our friendship after our respective retirements. He was so caring and thoughtful and always available for those in need of support. I will miss his presence. My heart goes out to Anita and all of the family. You will be in my prayers.

So sorry to read of Paul's death. I have many good memories of working with him at HPC. He was very gifted and had many talent and interests. I used to enjoy his trips here to pick Service Berries from my trees. I had to laugh when I read the comment about him still flying kites as an adult. He truly was a wonderful one of a kine. My sympathy to Anita and Nate.

I met Paul when I was in junior high school and my sister brought her college boyfriend home to meet her family, so it seems like he's always been a part of our family. He's the only person I know who flew kites as an adult! I always thought that was cool--odd, but cool. I hope his spirit is free now and can soar on the wind like a beautiful kite. I will miss him dearly.
