Obituary of Michael A Mace

Michael A. Mace, 68 of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.  He was born on June 21, 1951 in Bridgeport, CT and grew up in Cardiff, NY.  He was a graduate of Lafayette H.S.  Mr. Mace served honorably in the U.S. Marines from 1970 to 1974 achieving the rank of Sergeant.  He was marksmanship instructor, a Veteran of the Vietnam War and former POW.  Most recently, he had been working for S.O.S. Security.  He was a private person, he loved nature and hiking in the wilderness.  He was predeceased by his parents, Allan F. and June D. Mace (Blanchard) of Cardiff, NY and his brother Richard A. Mace.  Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved sisters, Mary Ellen Hart of Cortland, NY and Anne Somers of Old Town, ME, as well as many nieces and nephews.  

No funeral services will be held as it was Michael’s wish to spend eternity privately among nature.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., East Syracuse, NY 13057.
