Obituary of Josephine W. Warren

February 2, 2014 Josephine W. (Staniec) of Camillus died peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning at home. She was a life resident of Syracuse and the daughter of Konstanty and Pauline Staniec. Josephine is predeceased by her beloved husband Edward (Dixie) Warren, her son Paul E. Warren, and grandson, David T. Dermody as well as her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Josephine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Thomas Dermody, her beloved grandchildren Stephen and Bethany Dermody and great-grandchildren Matthew S. and Ryan D. Dermody whom she loved dearly. Josephine graduated from Vocational High School and then worked as an instructor at the General Electric Company, where she was honored with an award for her outstanding performance. She was President of the Frazier School PTA and a member of the Ladies Victory League. She loved to travel and annually visited her sister in Oregon, often taking Stephen with her, and enjoyed shopping at the outlets in Reading PA while her husband would patiently hold her purse and carry the bags. For many years she played canasta with her dear friends, Jerry and Helen Haley with whom she grew up on the west side of Syracuse. The family would like to thank Dr. Anne Barash and her staff for their understanding and support, Life’s Changing Seasons for providing caregivers so that Josephine was able to stay in her home, the Visiting Nurses Association who cared for her after her illnesses, Hospice of CNY who worked diligently to support her and her family, and Tom Dermody for his many years of support and love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WHOLE ME, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides programs for Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families in Central New York and is located at 1015 State Fair Blvd., Syracuse, NY 13209.
