Hi Ar,
Two months have passed since we lost you. Thought of you so often and especially on Valentine's Day and again on St. Patrick's Day. No Arline to send cards to and no Arline to receive witty, so appropriate, cards from.
I had our usual debate about that green drink at our favorite watering hole. Once again: "Was it worth all the calories?" Once again I'm opting to stay away from temptation 'till it's taken off the menu. It's almost as much pleasure just anticipating next year.
Hope you're not too busy telling racy jokes to the angels to read this. Remember our favorite about the three-year-old boy in the bath tub asking his mother about his brains. It won the short joke of the year prize. How we laughed about that one!
We still have tons of snow. Malaika had a great cross-country ski with Special Olympics today. Keep an eye on me,
Joan

My condolences to Lud, Suzy, Christopher. I don't know if you remember me. Arline and I became friends when we worked at Transitional Living Services together in the late 70s. Then I moved away in 1980 to Maryland and we eventually lost touch. I am so sorry to hear of Arline's passing. I recently moved back to central NY and hoped to re-connect with her. I have wonderful memories of time spent with her. We had wonderful, deep conversations on all sorts of subjects and some whimsical, lighthearted chats too.
May you find peace.

College roommates at SUNY Albany; sorority sisters; housemates in Copaigue and Syracuse, New York; and San Francisco; friends for 67 years!
I shall miss our phone conversations: your wonderful jokes; advice on book club selections; political and religious discussions.
How lucky I have been to have met you in 1952 - all due to the fateful college dorm application form which asked for preferences in a roommate. We both said the same thing: "An English major with a sense of humor." To boot: we both lived on Morningside Drive: Arline in Elmira and I in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
When we met at Pierce Hall I was impressed: a tall beautiful blonde! I was the opposite: a short plump redhead. But we were both compatible - outgoing, anxious for a good education and good friends! Thanks for being such a wonderful lifelong friend, Arline!

Goodbye, AR, dear friend,
There's a big hole in my heart and in my my life now that you're gone. . No more late night chats into the wee hours. You were such a good listener; always gauging your response to what the listener was ready to hear. Thank you for being my friend for 66 years, since we first met in the Fall of 1952 as Freshmen at Albany State where we were sorority sisters; then later fellow teachers on Long Island with weekends in Sag Harbor, followed by decades of visiting each other in your home in Syracuse or mine in Canada., where you were always so caring to our special-needs daughter, Malaika, and so interested in the lives of her four brothers..
Now we can only honor you by supporting your favorite charity, the care of animals, especially your beloved cats Every year on your birthday in September they will have a donation in your memory.. Keep an eye on me, till we meet again,
Joan

I was saddened to read about Arline's passing. I met her when I was teaching in Solvay, and she was a supportive community member who understood the concerns of the faculty. May she rest in peace.

Dear Ludlow & family, I was so saddened to hear of Arline's passing. I knew her for the past couple of years at Bishop Rehab & would sit & keep her company almost every night. She loved to sit and read but would gladly chat with me instead. She always admired my clothes and jewelry & I could tell she was a sharp dresser in her day. I know her health had declined rapidly lately so I know she's in a much better place now.
My heart goes out to you all.
