Obituary of Wanda Wolanski

Wanda (Babcia) 96 passed away on January 20, 2019 at Loretto- She was born in Aleksandrowka, Poland on December 22, 1922, and as a young girl of 17, was taken from her home and placed into forced labor by the Germans during  WWII.  After the war she met Roman (POW).  They married on September 16, 1945 in the chapel in Laufen/Salzach, Fridolfing Bavaria.  The Wolanski family lived in a refugee camp, until they immigrated to America in January 1951.  Wandzia worked for many years at Flah’s department store as a talented seamstress.  Our mother was an excellent Polish cook and baker. She loved to dance and was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.  Wanda was predeceased by her husband, Roman in 2011 and is survived by two daughters - Lusia (Joe) Brown of San Diego, Tania (Richard) de la Rosa of Warners, and a son, Richard (Ann) Wolanski of Binghamton, four grandchildren, Mark, Tammy, Krystyn and  Colleen - six great grandchildren- Chad, Matthew, Dylan, Brandon, Roman and Alexis – several nieces and nephews in Poland.  A sincere thank you goes out to M.J. and all the caring staff on the 13th floor at Loretto.

A one hour visitation will take place Friday February 1, 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm with services following at Hollis Funeral Home 1105 W. Genesee St. Syracuse.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland.  A reception will be held after interment at the Polish Home, 915 Park Ave. Family and friends are welcome.
